Repeat Prescriptions
Repeat prescriptions are issued at the discretion of our doctors. In general, if your medical condition is stable, we are happy to provide you with a repeat prescription at each alternate 3 monthly visits. Alternative arrangements may be made on discussion with your doctor.
You can request a repeat prescription by phoning the practice (04 473 7248) and leaving a message for the nurses on extension 2, or by emailing the nurses at reception@wadestownmedical.co.nz.
Please allow 24-48 business hours notice for repeat prescriptions.
Please be clear as to which medication and dose you require. Also let us know if you will pick up the prescription from the practice or if you would like us to send the prescription to a pharmacy electronically. There is a fee of $25 for prescriptions ($15 for Community Services Card holders). Your pharmacist may charge an additional fee for an electronic prescription.
Regulations dictate that a maximum of 3 months medication can be prescribed at one time. Contraception medication is an exception to this rule, where 6 months medication may be prescribed. A prescription is valid for 3 months from the date of issue. For controlled drugs a prescription may only be issued for a maximum of one month’s supply.
